TURBO COMPRESSOR and CENTRIFUGAL COMPRESSOR
On IHI Web site, the terms "TURBO COMPRESSOR" and "CENTRIFUGAL COMPRESSOR" are used. Both names refer to the centrifugal compressor ("centrifugal" is more common). However, we proudly refer to the IHI centrifugal compressors as "turbo compressor". This is because the IHI centrifugal compressors result from our advanced "turbo technologies", technologies developed through years of experience in the manufacture of IHI rotary machinery (engines for planes, gas turbine engines, vehicular superchargers, liquid hydrogen for rockets, and turbo pumps for liquefied oxygen and hydrogen.).
