The PFBC system combines a fluidized-bed combustion boiler with a gas turbine.
The gas turbine supplies the combustion air at high pressure to the combustor,
and the gas after being cleaned in cyclones drive the gas turbine. Steam
is simultaneously generated in the tube bundles in the combustor and drives
the steam turbine. It is a coal-fired combined cycle.
IHI supplied the world largest PFBC unit, under a license agreement with
Alstom Power Sweden (former ABB Carbon)
