Boilers

IHI has been contributing to a stable supply of electricity through provision of the main equipment for thermal, nuclear and hydroelectric power systems.
 
IHI is one of the three major manufacturers in Japan in the field of boiler, which is the core facility in thermal power plants, and has supplied a lot of boilers to the domestic utility and IPP markets as well as overseas utility and IPP markets, such as Australia, Southeast Asia, North America, Europe, Middle East and China, including ten units of boilers with each capacity of 660 MW to Australia. IHI has even manufactured and constructed ultra-large scale boilers over 1,000MW for power generation. Furthermore, IHI is involved in the technology development and commercialization of high efficient boilers applying high steam conditions, as well as oxy-fuel combustion in order to reduce CO2 emissions from power plant.
Utilizing technological capability accumulated through the rich experience in this field, IHI has been supplying boilers for industrial use and independent power producers (IPPs) as well.
As for fuel, IHI has the technologies and experiences to utilize a wide variety of fuels, including fuel produced from waste materials, such as petroleum coke, residual oil and organic residues, and biomass in addition to coal, heavy fuel oil and natural gas. Also, IHI is developing the technology of Twin IHI Gasifier (we call it TIGAR), which will be able to produce syngas from Lignite Coal categolized in low – grade coal.
In addition, IHI provides a wide range of packaged boilers which are used as heat and steam source in various industrial facilities.

Nuclear Power

In nuclear power operations, IHI supplies main components such as reactor pressure vessels, primary containment vessels, and piping systems. IHI is also involved in the development and construction of systems related to nuclear recycling. With regard to nuclear power plant equipment, IHI is supplying not only conventional boiling water reactors (BWRs) type, or advanced boiling water reactors (ABWRs) type, but also has started to supply pressurized water reactors (PWRs) type.

Gas Turbine and Gas Engine

IHI is supplying power generation equipment and combined heat and power equipment using gas turbines derived from aircraft jet engines, gas engines and diesel engines to both Japanese and overseas clients.
By using a efficient and reliable engines and turbines in the core of the plant, it has realized stable energy supply, reduction of CO2 and energy cost, and energy consumption.
