IHI's 150 year journey of creativity and daring
in pursuit of engineering excellence.
Explore the Englneering Edge -エンジニアリングの最先端を研究する-
In 2003, IHI celebrated its 150th year since its founding. IHI's predecessor, the Ishikawajima Shipyard was founded in 1853 with the arrival of Admiral Perry's black ships in Uraga Bay and the dawn of Japan's modern age. Thus began our 150-year journey of dedicated pursuit of the potential of next generation technologies at the cutting edge of engineering. From shipbuilding, land-based machinery and equipment, and factories to aviation and aerospace, IHI has expanded into a wide range of engineering fields and paved the way for next-generation technology. This museum was opened on April,2006 so that IHI's customers, local residents, and the young who will become tomorrow's leaders can learn about IHI's long history of creativity and daring in the engineering field. Through the exhibits at this museum we invite you to experience first-hand IHI's exciting manufacturing journey.
