The Akashi-Kaikyo Bridge over the Seto Inland Sea, the world's longest suspension bridge, was completed in 1998. In order to realize the dream of a suspension bridge of extraordinary length, in 1959 IHI began to research suspension bridge able to bear typhoon force winds. This exhibit presents 40 years of IHI research accomplishments that made the world's longest suspension bridge possible.
To meet society's needs, IHI gives shape to its technology visions one by one.
