IHI Corporation Basic Code of Conduct

In accordance with the management philosophies of "Contributing to the development of society through technology"and "Human resources is the only and the largest asset of the company," IHI has long contributed to the progress of society. In order to continue to develop corporate activities in a manner that is sincere and fair, and strengthen the relationship of mutual trust with society, IHI has established the Basic Code of Conduct.

The Basic Tenet of Business

1. IHI develops and supplies many products and services that are useful to society, and we ensure the safety of each and every one. As a result, these products and services earn the satisfaction and trust of our customers and users and thereby contribute to the development of society.


Observance of Laws and Social Norms

2. IHI observes all laws and regulations and conducts corporate activities in a manner that is sincere, fair, transparent, and free, and that does not conflict with social norms.
IHI maintains appropriate relations with all relevant political and administrative bodies and firmly opposes all antisocial forces and groups that threaten the order and safety of civil society.


Disclosure of Information

3. IHI communicates with shareholders and with the general public and proactively and fairly discloses corporate information as necessary.


Environmental Initiatives

4. IHI recognizes that environmental initiatives are an essential part of a company's activities and existence and therefore IHI implements environmental initiatives on a voluntary and proactive basis.


Social Contribution

5. As a good corporate citizen, IHI makes proactive social contributions.


Relations with Business Partners

6. IHI regards fairness, freedom, and openness to be the foundation of its relations with business partners and IHI will strive to foster relationships based on mutual trust.


Respecting Employees

7. IHI respects the character and individuality of employees, maintains working conditions that are safe and conducive to work, and strives to achieve the comfort and prosperity of employees.


Global Management

8. IHI adopts international standards and rules in all of its business activities, and it respects local cultures and customs and contributes to local development in its overseas activities.


Responsibilities of Senior Management

9. Recognizing their duty to ensure that these guidelines are put into practice, IHI's senior management will take the lead in observing the guidelines. They will publicize the aims of the guidelines, listen to opinions from inside and outside IHI, set up systems that aid employees in carrying out the tasks outlined in the guidelines, and extend use of these guidelines throughout IHI. If an incident occurs in violation of these guidelines, the officer concerned will investigate the cause, prevent recurrence, and swiftly disclose information on the incident. After identifying who has authority and accountability regarding the incident, the officer will take disciplinary action against those responsible, which may include themselves.
