IHI awarded second contract by CB&I

IHI Corporation has been awarded a contract to supply detailed engineering, procurement and fabricated materials as part of an overall contract Westinghouse Electric Company awarded CB&I (NYSE: CBI) to design, supply and construct two containment vessels for a U.S. utility customer. This contract is IHIfs second such award from CB&I. IHI and CB&I are working in close collaboration on a total of four containment vessels for new AP1000(TM) nuclear power plants in the U.S.
The materials for the containment vessels will be fabricated at IHIfs Yokohama No.1 works in Yokohama, Japan, and will be shipped to CB&I at a U.S. port of entry. The two steel containment vessels, each more than 40 meters in diameter, over 66 meters high, and approximately 4,000 tons in weight, are an important component of Westinghousefs AP1000(TM) advanced PWR type nuclear power plants.
Currently, many new nuclear power plant units have been announced not only in the USA, but also Asia and Europe. IHI is capitalizing on its extensive experience to aggressively pursue new nuclear projects both in the U.S. market and internationally for supply various equipment for these new nuclear power plants.
