Group ICT Strategy
In order to strengthen the revenue base by creating customer value as announced in its Group Management Policies 2016, the IHI Group has established the Group ICT Strategy 2016 as a part of its group management strategy and is working to create more sophisticated products and services and achieve more sophisticated manufacturing.
In an effort to create more sophisticated products and services, the Group will use the IoT technology to concentrate various kinds of information on the entire life cycle of products, including information on their operation, in the IHI Group Lifecycle Partner System (ILIPS). There, its proprietary data analysis and AI technologies will be used to provide customers with new maintenance options such as diagnosis of signs of failure and preventive maintenance. IHI is striving to develop new business models that are beneficial to both the Group and its customers.
Achieving more sophisticated manufacturing involves optimizing the manufacturing process by applying IoT technology to the IHI Group's factories and construction sites to visualize the status of production in terms of personnel, materials, and equipment among other parameters. Furthermore, the Group will push initiatives to make existing factories smart, by preventing unnecessary production stoppage through diagnosis of failures of key equipment and prediction of its life expectancy, and by reducing power consumption at factories through the installation of power sensors. In the future, by applying these to its customers' factories, the IHI Group will work with them to contribute to the creation of new added value.
The IHI Group will create new customer value and achieve growth by combining its products, services, manufacturing technology and ICT, including standardized operations, shared systems, and stronger information security measures, all of which provide the basis for achieving these goals.
