All Niigata engine for marine use meet the criteria of Tier 2

NIIGATA Power Systems Co., Ltd., (President: Mr.Goro Baba, its head office is Chuo ku, Tokyo, Japan. Hereinafter referred as NPS) the subsidiary company of the IHI Corporation successfully developed and adapted its nitrogen oxide (NOx) reduction technology for all exiting marine diesel engine and confirmed to meet the requirement of Tier 2 regulated by IMO (International Maritime Organization).

NPS developed new medium speed diesel engine for marine use 28AHX in last year to meet the demand of Tier 2 regulated by IMO. In this time, the technology used in 28AHX is applied for all existing diesel engine for marine use then all diesel engine can be achieved for the criteria of Tier 2.

The main technology to reduce NOx is as follows;

1. Optimize fuel injection system (The timing and rate of fuel injection)
2. Optimize timing of intake and exhaust Cam and the system of Turbo charger
3. Optimize the compression pressure and efficiency by improving the design of combustion system

NPS has been studying NOx deduction technology on diesel engine from 70s and its power generated diesel engine has been met the severe criteria of low NOx in Japan.
It also has been met the Nox regulations in each country.
Based on these experience and expertise, NPS developed its new technology for diesel engine for marine use to make available to reduce NOx as per set up in Tier 2.

NPS will develop and study more advance technology to reduce NOx to be severely limited in the near future for environment friendly diesel engine.
