Production of reciprocating engines reached 40 million horsepower mark
- Commemoration held at the Niigata Engine Plant -

 NIIGATA Power Systems Co., Ltd. (Niigata) recently achieved production of reciprocating engines with the output reached 40 million horsepower. The 40 million horsepower mark was reached with the model 8MG34HX (4,000 PS / 2,942 kW) engine produced by our plant in Niigata City. The engine is installed as the main engine of the roundhaul netter for operation in the open sea delivered to Tokai Gyogyo Co.,Ltd., under construction by Niigata Shipbuilding & Repair, Inc.

 The history of reciprocating engines with the Niigata brand reaches almost a century back to 1919 when Japan’s first marine diesel engine was developed by Niigata Engineering Co., Ltd., the predecessor of Niigata and triggered the expanded use of diesel engines in Japanese industries. Since then, Niigata has been developing and manufacturing diesel and gas engines for various applications, including generator sets, pump drivers, and locomotives, as well as marine engines.

 Niigata concentrates its efforts on improvements in performance, exhaust emissions and the quality of products, on the development of products to meet diversified needs, and on actively promoting advanced products for an expanded user base.
