Please tell us about your responsibilities and missions.

I am in charge of sales for a major Japanese automobile manufacturer. We deliver turbochargers from our factories in Thailand, Italy, and China to the customer's local factories in line with their global expansion. My mission is to start up projects and realize stable supply as a cross-departmental function for the entire global market, while discussing with customers' purchasing and development divisions to address various issues. Recently, the supply chain has become unstable due to lockdowns in varied countries caused by Covid-19, semiconductor shortages, and logistics disruptions caused by the war in Ukraine. In the midst of such major risks, we work together with our clients to advance projects on a daily basis with collecting information from various countries whose situations change from moment to moment.

How have you grown since you started working for Turbocharger Unit?

I feel that I have acquired a global business sense through working on projects in cooperation with members from a variety of countries. I have learned to promote business with an awareness of each country's culture, systems, politics, and other global connections. I have also developed the ability to carry out the projects while anticipating economic issues such as exchange rates, interest rates, and logistics. Still, I am not very good at foreign languages, but having built a relationship of mutual trust through actual business, I am now able to work with overseas staff with confidence, without worrying about making some mistakes. As globalization progresses more and more in the future, I believe that I will be able to make use of my ability to promote business with people from diverse countries hereafter.

Please tell us what you are impressed with (work, workplace, people, etc.).

It was impressive that there is a culture that allows us to take on big challenges from a young age. Five years ago, I was transferred from other business unit to the turbochargers business unit, then I was immediately assigned to a big project and asked to cope with the customer's requests on the front line. I sometimes made mistakes, but with the support of colleagues, I was assigned new missions one after another. Overall, the members are young and close to the management, so good ideas are immediately adopted and implemented. For the purpose of achieving targets, this is the workplace where people who can move aggressively and speak up their opinions are welcomed.
