IHI THRIVES TO EXPAND FOOTPRINTS IN VIETNAM WITH 34 MILLION USD MANUFACTURING FACILITY

IHI Corporation officially inaugurated its latest factory in Dinh Vu, Hai Phong. The new facility is expected to respond to increasing need of regional infrastructure development and Vietnam’s modernization agenda .

Hai Phong, 10th March, 2015 – IHI opened to operation today its latest manufacturing facility –IHI Infrastructure Asia (IIA in Dinh Vu, Hai Phong) in the presence of honored guests including local authorities and international representatives.

At the size of 140,000 meters square, the factory is equipped with latest heavy industrial manufacturing machines, enabling high quality outcome following international standards. IHI Infrastructure Asia (IIA) is a new hub for steel structure for bridges, thermal power plant and construction machinery production for IHI Group in the global market. The factory will produce 9,000 tons of steel structure upon reaching its full capacity at the end of this year.

“Today, IIA is honored to carry out IHI’s commitment to modernizing Vietnam for the next stage of growth. With the inauguration of the factory, IHI will be able to respond to the local demand of high quality steel structure for infrastructure development and other purposes in the shortest timeframe with the capabilities of tailoring customization to the best. We also aim to empower the local talents to create world-class products for not only Vietnam but also for international markets”, said Mr. Degawa.

IIA will play an important role in creating further business opportunities for Japan’s leading comprehensive engineering group IHI when ASEAN Economic Committee (AEC) is established later this year, enabling more freedom for business investment flow and labor mobility for ASEAN member countries. The factory with high productivity and strategic location will export half of its future products especially for large-scale projects. With the presence of new manufacturing facility, IHI will be able to stay active in its key business areas – resources, energy and the environment, social infrastructure and offshore facilities, industrial system and general purpose machinery, and aero engine and space.

On this occasion, IHI will continue to grant 20 scholarships to the students of Ha Noi University of Science and Technology and other two Hai Phong-based vocational schools – Haiphong Industrial Vocational College, and The Central Vocational College of Transport No. 2. This is part of the company’s vision of creating sustainable benefits for Vietnam through upgrading knowledge and transferring skills to local youth. Previously, IHI co-hosted unique forum with the Ministry of Planning and Investment’s Foreign Investment Agency to discuss modernization for the country’s next stage of growth by 2020 via key industrial solutions.
