IHI Awarded EPC Contract for LNG Receiving Terminal Expansion Project by PTTLNG

IHI Corporation (“IHI”), in consortium with POSCO Engineering Company Limited (“PEN”), has been awarded an EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) contract for an LNG receiving terminal expansion project (“Project”) by PTT LNG Company Limited (“PTTLNG”), a subsidiary of PTT Public Company Limited (“PTT”). This Project is for the expansion of the LNG receiving terminal in the Map Ta Phut Industrial Estate located in Rayong Province, Thailand. IHI and PEN will jointly undertake the overall EPC services for the LNG receiving terminal, including two 160,000m3 LNG storage tanks and regasification facilities of 5 MTPA. The Project is scheduled to be completed in 2017.

This is the first project for IHI to construct an LNG receiving terminal in Thailand. IHI’s experience in Asia includes four LNG storage tanks for Dahej LNG Terminal and two LNG storage tanks for Kochi LNG Terminal, both for Petronet LNG in India. Moreover, IHI has been consecutively awarded two EPC contracts for two LNG storage tanks in India, one by GSPC LNG in September 2013 and the other by Petronet LNG in December 2013. IHI also has experiences of completing EPC projects for an LNG receiving terminal in Shanghai and Taiwan. Furthermore, another LNG receiving terminal is being constructed by IHI in Hainan, PRC. Since constructing the first LNG storage tank in Japan in 1969, IHI has constructed more than 130 LNG storage tanks around the world, holding the leading share among EPC contractors in the world.

IHI aims to contribute to the stable energy supply in Thailand through this Project and further LNG receiving terminal projects planned by PTT and PTTLNG. Moreover, IHI will take advantage of its rich experience and continue to contribute toward energy supply for the world.
