IHI Corporation (Location: Koto Ward, Tokyo; President: Tsugio Mitsuoka; hereunder "IHI")’s Thai affiliate IHI ASIA PACIFIC (Thailand) Co. Ltd (hereunder “IHIAPT”), and IHI Logistics & Machinery Corporation (hereunder “ILM”), have received an order for the design, manufacture and installation of a set of logistics facilities for M-Senko Logistics Distribution Center. This facility is scheduled to be completed in August 2019, and the construction work will be carried out by Penta-Ocean Construction Co., Ltd.

M-Senko Logistics Distribution Center is a logistics base operating in three temperature zones (normal, refrigerated & frozen) to be built in the well-known Bangna commercial district of Bangkok by M-Senko, a joint venture company between investors Senko, a major logistics company, and MK Restaurant, a major restaurant chain in Thailand, among others.

With the development of the restaurant industry and the increase in exports of frozen foods brought about by Thailand’s economic development, the country’s cold chain is expanding and consequentially so is the demand for refrigerated warehouses. This distribution center, which will be Thailand’s largest in terms of total floor space, will be adjacent to the central kitchen of MK Restaurant Group. This facility will support the company’s distribution network of about 650 stores throughout Thailand, through a highly efficient and high-quality storage and delivery system, making full use of Japanese know-how.

The distribution center recently ordered to IHIAPT and ILM is composed of various facilities, including a refrigerated automated storage & retrieval system operating in the 0 to 4°C and -25°C ranges, all of which contribute to efficiency improvements of the distribution center and to labor savings.

The IHI Group holds the largest share in the market of refrigerated automated storage & retrieval systems in Japan, and by utilizing the technology cultivated through its abundant experience it will continue to contribute to the development of the cold chain of an ever-growing Thailand.
