Climate change has a significant impact on society and the economy, and is a social issue that tests the sustainability of companies. The IHI Group treats climate change as one of its important management issues and is taking measures from both the mitigation perspective of reducing greenhouse gas emissions and the adaptation perspective of reducing the effects of those emissions.

Conservation of the Global Environment (Pollution Prevention and Biodiversity Conservation)

The IHI Group sees conservation of the global environment as an important management issue and is working to prevent atmosphere, water, and soil pollution and protect biodiversity. One of the Group’s environmental goals is to eliminate all violations of environmental laws and accidents. The Group is also focusing on measures to combat climate change, which has a major impact on biodiversity.

Circular Economy

The IHI Group positions the creation of a circular economy as one of its main environmental issues, and strives to reduce waste emissions and water consumption, improve resource efficiency, and reduce environmental impact. In order to promote the transition to a circular economy, the Group is committed to the 3Rs (reduce, reuse and recycle) in its business activities.
Also, the Group is working to expand its business of providing comprehensive services that include reuse, repair and maintenance throughout the entire product life cycle.
