History

SHIBAURA Brand

1942: Established “Ishikawajima-Shibaura Turbine Matsumoto Factory” in Matsumoto-city as a joint venture of “Tokyo Ishikawajima Shipyard” (currently IHI Corporation) and “Shibaura Engineering Works Co., Ltd." (currently Toshiba Corporation), and manufactured exhaust gas turbine superchargers and valves
1950: Changed the product line and established “Ishikawajima-Shibaura Machinery Co., Ltd.” And developed, manufactured and sold internal combustion engines, garden tractors, fire pumps and more
1975: Acquired by “Ishikawajima-Shibaura Okayama Factory”, and manufactured tractors and compact tillers as Okayama Factory
1977: Separated the Precision Casting Department and established the “Matsumoto-Ishikawajima Precision Casting (currently IHI Castings Co., Ltd. Matsumoto Factory)”
1988: Established “Shibaura Corporation (currently IHI Business Support Corporation Matsumoto Office)”, and began business in the service industry
1998: "Inherited the trade rights, etc., of “Tsuchiya Mfg.,” and expanded the turf care machinery business"
2004: Moved “Okayama Factory” to the “Saidaiji Factory” in Okayamacity, and launched the environmental equipment business
2006: Established “Asahi Factory” in the suburbs of Matsumotocity, and expanded engine part fabrication

STAR Brand

1924: "Established “Toyohira Machinery” in Toyohira, Sapporo-city. Began to develop, manufacture and sell agricultural machinery with STAR-type cutters as the main feature"
1954: Reorganized as “Toyohira Agricultural Machinery Plant Corporation”
1961: Entered capital/technical agreement with “Ishikawajima-Harima Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. (currently IHI Corporation)”
1964: Changed company name to “Star Farm Machinery Mfg. Co., Ltd.”
1970: Merged with “Konishi Farm Machinery” (Date-city), and expanded business
1973: Developed and began to sell the first hay balers in Japan
1978: Moved the entire head office and factory from Sapporo-city to Chitose-city
1988: Opened an office in Oyama-city (Tochigi Prefecture) to serve as a sales and distribution base
2002: Established the joint venture company “Shanghai Star Modern Agriculture Equipment Co., Ltd. (Abbreviation: Shanghai STAR)” in Shanghai, China
