Located in the central region of Japan, the VGJ Toyohashi Import Center is one of the largest facilities for importing foreign cars in the country. It began operation in 1992, and IHI has introduced high-rise automated warehouses for finished cars, automobile transportation systems, and automated warehouses/retrieval systems for auto parts at its automobile maintenance center. All of these are still in service and have experienced no major problems. The center expanded their automated warehouses/retrieval systems for finished cars to respond to the need for more diverse models, including Multi-Purpose Vehicles (MPVs) and Sport Utility Vehicles (SUVs), thus achieving a quick response to a variety of customer requirements.
