    Launch failure of Epsilon-6

    On Wednesday, October 12, at 9:50:43 a.m. (Japan Standard Time), Epsilon-6 was launched by the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (hereinafter ‘JAXA’) from Uchinoura Space Center. However, at 9:57:11 a.m., a command destruction signal was sent and launch failed. Epsilon-6 equipped eight satellites including AMATERU-I (QPS-SAR-3) and AMATERU-II (QPS-SAR-4) which IHI AEROSPACE Co., Ltd. (hereinafter ‘IA’) had ordered from iQPS Inc. (Institute for Q-shu Pioneers of Space, Inc.).
    JAXA is currently investigating the cause of the incident.
    IA is in charge of the development and manufacturing of the Epsilon-6 under JAXA, and IA will responsibly work with JAXA to investigate the cause.
    IA will continue its efforts to provide satellite launch services.

    IHI AEROSPACE received its first commercial launch service order.
    ~ Two commercial earth observation satellites manufactured by iQPS Inc., will be launched by Epsilon. ~

    IHI AEROSPACE Co., Ltd (hereinafter ‘IA’) received order for launching the SAR satellites owned by Institute for Q-Shu Pioneers of Space Inc. (hereinafter ‘iQPS’). IA and iQPS signed the contract for launch service of QPS-SAR-3 and QPS-SAR-4 on April 18, 2022.
    QPS-SAR-3 and QPS-SAR-4 are under manufacturing by iQPS with more than 25 partner companies who are located at Kyushu area in Japan. Two satellites will be launched by Epsilon flight #6 in Japanese FY 2022 from Uchinoura Space Center in Kyushu. This is first commercial launch order for IA.

    Launch Announcement

    Epsilon Launch Vehicle #5 which is developed and manufactured by IHI Aerospace was successfully Launched on 9th November 2021 by Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA). It was confirmed that all 9 spacecrafts, including ‘RApid Innovative payload demonstration SatellitE-2 (RAISE-2)’ were successfully deployed to target orbit.

    Launch Announcement

    Epsilon Launch Vehicle #4 of Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), which was in charge of the development and manufacture of the vehicle system by IHI AEROSPACE Co., Ltd. (President: Takashi MAKINO, HQ: Tokyo, Japan), a group company of IHI Corporation, was launched today. All Seven spacecrafts, including the first small demonstration spacecraft, which were selected as an innovative spacecraft technology demonstration program of Japan, were confirmed to successful orbit insertion.

    ASNARO-2, an advanced small radar spacecraft, was confirmed to successful orbit insertion.

(President: Shigeki KINAI, HQ: Tokyo, Japan), a group company of IHI Corporation, was launched today. ERG, a geospace probe spacecraft, was confirmed to successful orbit insertion.

    The Launch of Epsilon-1

    The first Epsilon Launch vehicle (Epsilon-1) was launched at 2:00PM on September 14, 2013 from the Uchinoura Space Center and jettisoned the Spectroscopic Planet Observatory for Recognition of Interaction of Atmosphere (SPRINT-A). IHI AEROSPACE was involved in the development, manufacturing, launch support at site of the Epsilon Launch Vehicle. We would like to express our profound appreciation for the cooperation and support of all related personnel and organizations that this success has proven the result of the rocket system technology developments that IHI AEROSPACE engaged on in the past.
