Graphitization

What kind of technology is "graphitization"?

About graphitization

Graphitization is a heat treatment process of carbon materials at high temperatures to form graphite structure. By graphitization, electrical conductivity, thermal conductivity, heat resistance, and mechanical strength are increased, and weight is reduced.
By these properties, graphite is used in various applications such as battery materials, electronic components, and aircraft components, and is attracting attention as a high value-added technology, and is expected to be applied in various fields.

Applications

Battery Materials

Graphitized carbon is used as an anode material for lithium-ion secondary batteries widely used in automobiles, mobile phones, notebook computers and so on. It is also applied to fuel cell materials and is highly expected as a new energy material.

Electronic components

Graphite sheet is made by graphitizing a specific polymer sheet, and is used as an excellent heat dissipation sheet because of its high thermal conductivity, flexibility and workability. It is used in mobile phones, notebook computers, and LCD TVs.

Aircraft components

Graphitized carbon and carbon fiber composite materials have high heat resistance and are used in parts exposed to high temperature such as aircraft engine components and heat-resistant tiles for space rockets. They also have excellent acoustic, vibrational and impact properties.

Civil engineering and construction

Graphitized carbon fiber has excellent tensile and bending properties, and is used as a lightweight, durable and corrosion-resistant reinforcement and structural materials for construction.
