IHI INFRASTRUCTURE ASIA CO., Ltd. to relocate the factory as IHI group's production base in South East Asia to Dinh Vu Industrial Zone, Haiphong, Vietnam
IHI Corporation (“IHI”) of Japan is pleased to announce that it is planning to relocate and build a new factory of IHI Infrastructure Asia Co., Ltd. (*IIA) in the total area of 14ha in Dinh Vu Industrial Zone in Haiphong, Vietnam. This IIA factory will be the first own factory in Vietnam for IHI group.
The factory will be relocated from inland to the coast area for better import/export accessibility. With its geographical advantage, IHI will be able to supply competitive products and respond to a rapid growth and demand for infrastructure development in South East Asia.
IIA factory will begin to fabricate steel structure such as bridge girder or attachment for power plant in the first half of 2014. Within the first half of 2015, factory will be completed and will be able to produce machinery products such as construction machinery and concrete products. IIA factory will play a significant role in IHI group’s production base in South East Asia.
IHI is keen to expand infrastructure business from domestic to all over the world.
*IIA was established in December 2008 as IHI's overseas base for engineering, fabrication, and construction of steel structure especially bridge. IIA is manufacturing a Nhat Tan Bridge, one of the world’s largest cable-stayed bridge, in Hanoi with the Joint Venture of IHI Infrastructure Systems Co., Ltd. which is affiliate company of IHI and Sumitomo Mitsui construction Co., Ltd.
Furthermore, IIA completed the remarkable repairing work of Binh Bridge which was constructed in 2005 and was damaged by the tremendous hurricane which hit Haiphong in 2010. This outstanding work of girder repairing and cable replacement was one of the remarkable cable-stayed bridges repairing work in the world.
