IHI holds 4th Ishikawajima Technology Forum in Brazil, expecting the expansion of demand related to energy industry

Tokyo, September 24, 2014 -- IHI Corporation (“IHI”) held “4th Ishikawajima Technology Forum” on 18th September (local time) at Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. In this forum, IHI presented technologies of IHI Group related to oil and gas, shipbuilding and ocean industries with Brazilian company and research institution as the main targets.

IHI, supported by Industry Federation of the State of Rio de Janeiro (known as “FIRJAN”), has held this event, called “Ishikawajima Technology Forum”, every year since 2011. 60 people attended this 4th Forum, and IHI invited Professor Nishimoto from University of São Paulo, a leading person in the area of Naval Engineering. IHI also introduced its ocean business activities and R&D activities, engineering services of IHI E&C (wholly owned subsidiary of IHI) and shipbuilding technologies of Japan Marine United (affiliated company of IHI).

IHI also participated in “Rio Oil and Gas Expo and Conference 2014” held on the same week by Brazilian Institute of Oil, Gas and Biofuels(known as “IBP”) in Rio de Janeiro. In the exhibition, the biggest forums related to oil and gas industry in Latin America, IHI made presentations on its products and technologies, displaying the model of its product and panel for showing variety of its product line. Primus Processamento de Tubos S/A, an affiliate of IHI, has been participating the forum, but this year became the first year for IHI to exhibit as a Group.

Currently, IHI is expanding its business through the investment in Estaleiro Atlântico Sul S/A(situated in Pernambuco, Brazil) as well as proceed the cooperation in development of human resources with University of Pernambuco. Through the series of events in September 2014, IHI proposed its possibility introducing products and technologies correspond to each process in the development of oil and gas. IHI Group will continue increasing its presence in Brazil through the expansion of its business and the participations in the events related to the growing sectors.
