IHI Group Concludes a Long term After Sales Agreement of Coal Fired Power Plant in Morocco

IHI Corporation (IHI), in cooperation with IHI POWER SYSTEM MALAYSIA SDN BHD. (IPSM), a subsidiary of IHI which specializes in the maintenance business, has concluded a long term after sales agreement (LTASA) for a large-scale coal fired power plant with Jorf Lasfar Energy Company 5&6 (JLEC 5&6), subsidiary of TAQA Morocco, the largest independent power producer in the Kingdom of Morocco producing a half of the total power generation in Morocco.
The LTASA is intended for Jorf Lasfar Power Plant Unit 5&6 (2×350MW) to which IHI supplied the boilers in 2014 operated by JLEC 5&6.
The LTASA is the very first long-term after sales agreement regarding boiler equipment as IHI Group.
In Morocco, the electricity demand has been increasing due to the rapid economic growth, and social development. The stable electricity supply is crucial with the demand expanding by 6.5% on an annual average since 2004. The LTASA aims to provide various kinds of maintenance service, and spare parts for the boiler equipment. It covers spare parts supply, technical consultation, dispatching of technical advisor, and so on. In addition, the latest remote monitoring system is under discussion with JLEC 5&6.
IHI has supplied many of large-scale coal fired power plants in Japan and overseas. In Morocco, IHI supplied Africa's first ultra-super critical boiler (2×693MW) for SAFI Independent Power Project which is under construction scheduled to start commercial operation in 2018. After the completion, IHI will have supplied total 4 boilers in Morocco. With this abundant experiences, and reliable maintenance service of IPSM, IHI Group has achieved to conclude this Agreement.
IHI continues to contribute to the realization of environmental loading reduction, and stable electricity supply through not only suppling environmentally friendly power facilities, systems with high efficiency, and quality but also expanding the lifecycle business to the global market including Africa, where the electricity demand is sharply growing.
