Indonesia / IHI Receives Order for Boiler Furnace Wall Replacement for Suralaya Power Plant ~Contribution to the stable power supply in Indonesia through lifecycle business~

IHI Corporation (HQ : Tokyo, Japan, CEO : Tsugio Mitsuoka, hereafter referred to as “IHI”), together with PT COGINDO DAYABERSAMA (hereafter referred to as “Cogindo”), has received an order from PT Indonesia Power, a subsidiary company of Indonesian State owned electricity company PT PLN to replace the Furnace Wall of No. 8 Boiler (625MW) for the Suralaya Coal Fired Power Plant which was supplied by a competing company.

The Suralaya Coal Fired Power Plant (Total aggregated power output of 4,025MW), which is located approximately 120km west of Jakarta, the capital city of Indonesia, is one of the most important power plants in Indonesia. The Furnace Wall replacement work which IHI is in charge of requires appropriate measures to be implemented and is vital to ensuring the stable operation of plant equipment.

Power consumption in Indonesia is rapidly increasing in line with economic growth. IHI has recently received orders for the delivery of 3 large scale boilers in Indonesia of which the construction work is ongoing. IHI’s award of the replacement works was a result of its extensive track record for boiler deliveries both domestically and internationally, and from receiving continued high praise for its organizational structure, consisting of IHI and PT Cilegon Fabricators, to capably handle both new power plant projects and maintenance business inquiries in Indonesia. PT Cilegon Fabricators have been utilized by IHI for manufacturing boiler equipment since the 1990s.

IHI is proactively engaged in both reducing global environmental load, and providing stable power supply via leveraging expertise gained through its extensive global track records for boiler construction and aftermarket activities, and by supplying highly efficient, high quality power plant equipment with advanced environmental design features, as well as by providing total life cycle solutions including maintenance services. By continuing to contribute towards the higher availability and stable operation of power plants, IHI is proceeding with the activity goal to help reduce CO2 emissions throughout customers’ business life-cycle, as defined in the IHI Group Medium-term Management Plan.
