HSEPL has awarded the EPC Contract for two LNG tanks for a LNG receiving terminal in India to the Consortium of IHI and AFCONS, ~ Starting construction of the largest LNG Tanks in India ~
IHI Corporation (location: Koto-ku, Tokyo; president: Tsugio Mitsuoka; hereinafter referred to as "IHI") received an order for an EPC of two above-ground LNG tanks for LNG receiving terminal in India (hereinafter referred to as "Work") jointly with a major construction company in India, Afcons Infrastructure Ltd., and signed a contract for the Work.
The LNG-receiving terminal will be constructed at the HSEPL Site at Chhara Port, Gujarat Province.
The storage capacity is 200,000 kiloliters per unit, which is the largest capacity in India, and completion is planned for 2022.
IHI Plant Services Corporation, which is a subsidiary of IHI and has been established in April this year as a plant EPC business company of the IHI Group, is responsible for a part of the offshore Works.
In 1969, IHI delivered Japan's first LNG tank to the Negishi Plant of Tokyo Gas Co., Ltd., and is the leading manufacturer of more than 140 LNG tanks in Japan and overseas. So far, IHI has been involved in the development of various types of tanks such as the above-ground type and the underground type, and have also been extensively involved in the EPC of LNG receiving terminals.
In India, the construction of Dahej LNG receiving terminal in Gujarat was IHI’s first construction and for India, its first LNG Terminal. Subsequently, IHI has built a total of 10 LNG tanks, including six for the Dahej terminal, two for the Kochi LNG receiving terminal in Kerala and two for the Mundra LNG receiving terminal in Gujarat, for GSPC LNG Ltd. We have built 70% of the LNG tanks in India.
As global energy demand grows, IHI will continue to actively pursue business activities to ensure the stable supply of environment friendly energy based on the technologies and expertise it has cultivated through its past achievements in order to contribute to the creation of carbon-free and recycling societies.
