IHI Endorses Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry’s GX League
The IHI Group announced that it has endorsed the GX (for green transformation)* League initiative of Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. The ministry set up this forum for companies pursuing sustainable growth through Green Transformation initiatives to collaborate with government, academia, and business entities undertaking similar efforts.
The IHI Group has made tackling climate change a top management priority. It accordingly formulated long-term greenhouse gas emission goals under IHI Group Carbon Neutral 2050. It believes that society overall should tackle the challenges of carbon neutrality, and seeks to help overcome them through its operations, products, and services. The GX League will start this fiscal year.
Through that entity, the Group will amass knowledge and technologies to become carbon-neutral while crafting and delivering products and services that transform the economy.
*Green Transformation is a Japanese government-led initiative to shift the country away from fossil energy to one centered on clean energy to cut carbon dioxide emissions and boost industrial competitiveness by seizing opportunities to grow the economy by achieving carbon neutrality by 2050 and reaching national greenhouse gas emissions reduction goals by 2030.
