2026 New Year’s Greeting from President Hiroshi Ide(Summary)

On the morning of January 5th, the first day of work, Hiroshi Ide, President of IHI Corporation, delivered New Year's greetings to all IHI Group employees. The summary is as follows.

President Hiroshi Ide

Fiscal 2025 is the final year of our “Group Management Policies 2023,” and we have now entered the home stretch. Since fiscal 2020, under “Project Change,” we have been steadily preparing for and advancing our business transformation. Building on that foundation, from fiscal 2023 we have been working under the “Group Management Policies 2023” to reshape our business portfolio and strengthen our financial base. Thanks to the combined efforts of everyone in the IHI Group, we have reached a point where we can clearly see the progress of these transformations and reforms.
From fiscal 2026, we will launch a new management plan. Using what we have built so far as our foundation, we will shift into a stage where we aim for stronger growth and a significant leap forward. With that in mind, I would like to share three key thoughts on how we will achieve this next leap forward.

1. Strengthen our financial foundation to unlock growth
Since fiscal 2024, we have focused our key initiatives on fundamentally improving cash flow, and we are seeing tangible results. However, strengthening our financial foundation to support future growth remains a work in progress. To invest in people and in future growth, we must continue to enhance business profitability while continuing to reduce fixed costs and working capital.

2. Acquire “strengths” that drive future growth
The growth of IHI Group depends on each individual and each department becoming stronger. To achieve this, we must reaffirm our current strengths and clarify what new strengths will be required going forward. This means reinforcing existing capabilities and acquiring new strengths through education, self-development, technology development and strategic investment. I anticipate your continued commitment to this effort.

3. A culture of “challenge” is what moves IHI forward
Only those who challenge themselves can grow. I want to transform our organization into one where entire departments are also encouraged to embrace ambitious challenges. To do this, we must foster a culture that leverages diversity, tolerates failures, encourages challenge, and supports those who step forward. The IHI Group has developed its history by continually embracing new challenges. Let us return to our origins and build a culture that embraces bold challenges.
Lastly, I would like to speak about safety and compliance. Both are the foundation of all corporate activities, and there can be no compromise. I ask each of you once again to raise your awareness even higher. Compliance is a core value that each of us must uphold. Without it, a company cannot survive or grow. As we welcome the new year, let us renew our commitment to creating a workplace that is safe, secure, and where everyone can truly feel the joy of working.

I wish all of you and your families a wonderful year ahead.
