FY2025 Greeting message to new employees from the president Ide
Today, Hiroshi Ide, President of IHI Corporation, instructed new employees through video. The summary is as follows.
【1.IHI Group’s Vision for the Society and Our Initiatives in FY 2025】
The IHI Group is advancing its mid-term management plan, "Group Management Policies 2023," with the aim to "Create a world where nature and technology work in unity.” This year marks the final year of the plan. In the "Group Management Policies 2023," we are advancing transformations in our business structure, including the business portfolio, as well as undertaking balance sheet reforms to build a robust financial foundation. We are also fostering organizational and mindset changes to create an environment where each of you can leverage your strengths and excel. We must achieve these transformations to set the IHI Group on a path of further growth. You have joined the IHI Group right in the midst of these transformative changes. "Transformation" means breaking away from the past and shattering the mindset that is merely an extension of it.
You have no ties to past constraints or customs. Regardless of your experience or years of employment with the IHI Group, from this day forward, you are "transformers" and individuals who can actively engage in the transformations the IHI Group is pursuing. Transformation will be continuously advanced in our next mid-term management policies which begins in fiscal year 2026. Then, we aim to strengthen our core businesses in Resources, Energy & Environment, Social Infrastructure, and Industrial Systems & General-Purpose Machinery. Meanwhile, the Aero Engine, Space & Defense sectors will drive growth, as we also cultivate the clean energy sector as a future business alongside our aero engines.
I would like to share another important initiative with you, which is the promotion of "DE&I" (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion). We regard DE&I as the key to creating a workplace where everyone feels a sense of fulfillment and as a critical element for the future development of the IHI Group. We are actively working to promote DE&I. Practicing DE&I is not difficult. I encourage you to acknowledge the backgrounds of each person you encounter and to make a conscious effort to listen and communicate with respect.
I will continue to lead the change in promoting DE&I.
You may spend much of your daytime in your workplace. Let's realize that IHI Group has many workplaces where each of you can find a sense of purpose, work joyfully, and thrive with a smile.
【2.Expectations for you】
I have a request filled with expectations for all of you, our new members at the IHI Group. Every great goal begins with a small step. Rather than trying to achieve something big all at once, cherish and take those small steps carefully. In the process of taking those steps, you will experience successes, and at times, failures as well. I hope you will have the courage to continue challenging yourself, viewing failure as a part of the journey to success, rather than fearing it and giving up halfway. I myself have come this far with the support of my colleagues and family.
You too will certainly meet colleagues within the IHI Group who can support each other and grow together. Let's steadily move forward, step by step with the support of those around us. I sincerely look forward to your growth and success.
