IHI Receives Order for Long-Lead Items for Containment Vessel and Large Steel Modules for New-Build PWR Nuclear Power Plant Project in Poland
IHI Corporation (“IHI”) today announced that it has received an order covering engineering and procurement activities for long-lead items for one containment vessel and associated large steel module (CA01 package) for Unit 1 of a new nuclear power plant project in Poland based on the Westinghouse Electric Company AP1000® pressurized water reactor (PWR).
This project is being developed by Polskie Elektrownie Jądrowe (PEJ), Poland’s state-owned company responsible for delivering the country’s first nuclear power plant in the Municipality of Choczewo, northern Poland.

Under the contract, IHI’s scope consists of engineering and long-lead item procurement activities for the containment vessel—an essential safety system that encloses the reactor and other critical systems—as well as large steel modules installed inside the reactor building. These modules provide support for major equipment and contribute to efficient plant construction.
As global electricity demand continues to increase, nuclear power is receiving renewed attention as a reliable low-carbon, energy source that supports both decarbonization and energy security. New-build nuclear power plant projects are being planned and developed globally, and further growth in demand is anticipated.
