Corporate citizenship
The IHI Group builds and maintains good relationships with local communities to conduct business effectively. We also support activities that help conserve local ecosystems.
IHI wheelchair basketball events
The IHI Group has supported the Japanese Wheelchair Basketball Federation as an official sponsor since fiscal 2015. We cultivate interest in this sport by inviting residents near our business sites to events to immerse themselves in the sport and interact with players.

Providing facilities tours
The IHI Group provides tours of local offices, works, construction sites, and other facilities. This helps communities to better understand its operations in these areas and the offerings it creates at works and construction sites.

Conserving biodiversity near business sites
The IHI Group endeavors to conserve the diversity of rare species and ecosystems in nearby areas, collaborating with local governments and organizations in those activities.

Taking part in blood drives
The IHI Group sites have taken part in Japanese Red Cross Society blood drives since 1967, with many employees donating blood every year.

Next generation development
To maintain business continuity, the IHI Group supports research in science and technology through activities that cultivate science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics (STEAM) learning and related programs.
Holding classes for children
The IHI Group offers classes at elementary and junior high schools near its business sites. The curriculum responds to requests from municipal governments to provide STEAM learning related to Group businesses, such as by explaining how jet engines work and teaching about the properties of ammonia, as well as by helping students to better understand biodiversity. The classes spark young people’s interest in science while familiarizing them with the IHI Group’s operations.

Offering internships and providing work experience
The IHI Group provides internship and work experience programs for young people from junior high schools, high schools, technical colleges, universities, and other institutions near its business sites. These programs enable students to learn about Group activities and initiatives at each business site and deepen their understanding of manufacturing and R&D by observing workers.

Sponsorships and donations
As well as donating to disaster relief initiatives, the IHI Group sponsors and funds the activities of organizations and events that promote studying abroad and STEAM learning.
