Here, we highlight the IHI Group’s key social contribution activities.

The IHI Group actively engages in a wide range of social contribution activities, thereby building and maintaining good relationships with local communities to conduct business effectively.
We also support activities that help conserve local ecosystems, through initiatives aimed at preserving biodiversity in areas surrounding our business sites and facilities.
The IHI Group has supported the activities of the Japanese Wheelchair Basketball Federation as an official sponsor since fiscal 2015. To promote broader awareness of and cultivate interest in this sport, we host experiential events and invite residents near our business sites to immerse themselves in the sport and interact with players.

The IHI Group actively promotes engagement with local communities through hosting events that are open to residents living in neighboring areas.
The IHI Group contributes to community life by routinely collaborating with local governments or organizations, etc. and participating in and supporting local events.
The IHI Group provides tours of local offices, works, construction sites, and other facilities. This helps communities to better understand its operations in these areas and the offerings it creates at works and construction sites.
The IHI Group fulfills its community responsibilities by regularly conducting cleanups in site neighborhoods.
The IHI Group endeavors to conserve the diversity of rare species and ecosystems in nearby areas, collaborating with local governments and organizations in those activities.
The IHI Group sites have taken part in Japanese Red Cross Society blood drives for more than 50 years since 1967, with many employees donating blood every year.
To maintain business continuity, the IHI Group supports research in science and technology through activities that cultivate science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics (STEAM) learning and related programs.
The IHI Group holds school visits to elementary and junior high schools near its business sites. The curriculum responds to requests from municipal governments to provide STEAM learning related to Group businesses, such as by explaining how jet engines work and teaching about the properties of ammonia, as well as by helping students to better understand biodiversity. The classes spark young people’s interest in science while familiarizing them with the IHI Group’s operations.
Additionally, the IHI Group plans and holds workshops that enable next-generation talent and Group employees to collaborate in teams that transcend generational barriers.

IHI Group employees hold a manufacturing class program for young prospective engineers, putting together educational materials and content and publicizing it as part of efforts to contribute to the STEAM learning of young people.
The IHI Group provides internship and work experience programs for young people from junior high schools, high schools, technical colleges, universities, and other institutions near its business sites. These programs enable students to learn about Group activities and initiatives at each business site and deepen their understanding of manufacturing and R&D by observing workers.
As well as donating to disaster relief initiatives, the IHI Group sponsors and funds the activities of organizations and events that promote studying abroad and STEAM learning.
