IHI’s Akishima Office Transitions to 100% Renewable Electricity
April this year saw IHI’s Akishima Office transition fully to electricity derived from renewable energy sources. It now buys its power through the Green Basic Plan of TEPCO Energy Partner, Incorporated. This is the first IHI Group office in Japan to complete such a move.
The company opened the office in October 2006 as an office to undertake design, develop technologies, and engage in procurement, sales, and administration in Aero Engine, Space & Defense Business Area. The office employed 1,351 people as of April 1, 2023. Only the IHI Head Office in Toyosu and the Yokohama Engineering Center are larger than this office. Annual carbon dioxide reductions from buying this renewable energy should reach around 1,000 t-CO2.
The IHI Group aims to become carbon neutral by 2050 by continuing to develop and commercialize ammonia and other new technologies while endeavoring to conserve and create energy in-house and purchase renewable electricity.
