Tsurugashima Works Conducts Tour for Children with Disabilities
On December 22, the IHI Tsurugashima Works conducted a tour for 12 children from a center in Kawagoe, Saitama Prefecture, that provides a range of services for elementary school children with disabilities. The center is operated by Happy Net, a nongovernment organization that provides after-school care and child development support services for such students. The Tsurugashima Works conducts many tours for facilities that Happy Net runs.

The tour was designed with the needs of people with disabilities in mind. Before the tour, for example, a video outlined what the workings of the facility. Time was set aside for children to handle tools to get a feel for their weight. During the tour, the children were thrilled when maintenance area workers greeted them with waves. The day was a great opportunity for the children to learn about this facility in their neighborhood.

The IHI Group remains committed to enhancing public understanding of its operations and fostering strong community relationships through plant tours and other outreach efforts.
