IHI Proudly Sponsors 2024 International Women's Wheelchair Basketball Friendship Games in Osaka
IHI was honored to be a special sponsor of the 2024 International Women’s Wheelchair Basketball Friendship Games Osaka Cup at Asue Arena Osaka from February 16 through 18. The company has been an official sponsor of the Japan Wheelchair Basketball Federation since 2015, demonstrating a consistent commitment to the sport.
Competitors from Japan, Australia, the United Kingdom, and Thailand showcased their skills, with Japan securing a commendable second place. The final day saw a significant turnout from employees of IHI Kansai Branch, IHI Infrastructure Systems, and other Group units.
Beyond the competition, the event provided spectators a chance to engage directly with the sport. The Challenge Corner and an experiential event allowed attendees to gain a hands-on understanding of wheelchair basketball. Friendship Junior Lessons offered children with disabilities the opportunity to learn from seasoned players.
During a halftime break, the International Wheelchair Basketball Friendship Games Osaka Cup Executive Committee recognized the IHI Group’s valuable contribution, presenting a certificate of appreciation for their sponsorship.
Aligning with its commitment to nurturing the sport's future, IHI also support the IWBF Women’s Repechage from April 17 to 20, the final qualifying round for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.
