IHI Participates as Main Partner in Artpara Fukagawa 2024

The IHI Group participated in Artpara Fukagawa, which was held from October 19 to 27, as the event's main partner. This art festival was held in Koto Ward, Tokyo, where the IHI head office is located. In this community art festival, the whole Fukagawa area* was turned into a museum by decorating it with artworks created by people with disabilities, sharing their artistic appeal and value. This festival, organized by the local community, has been held every year since 2020. The IHI Group has supported the event since 2021 with the aim of fostering greater interaction with the community and exposing people to a wider range of perspectives. This year, 26 IHI Group employees volunteered in the event.

  • *Fukagawa refers to the western side of Tokyo's Koto Ward

During the event period, artworks were shown throughout town, the 2024 Artpara Fukagawa Awards were held for winning submissions from across the country, there were live street performances by performers with disabilities, and there were walking tours that combined notable Fukagawa locations with art appreciation.
The theme of the 2024 Artpara Fukagawa Awards, which was open to submissions from throughout Japan, was "wa," or harmony. A total of 953 submissions were received and put on display in facilities and other locations throughout Fukagawa. As the event's main partner, the IHI Group selected an "IHI Award" and presented it to the winning artist. The winner of the IHI Award was an artwork by Kazuhiro Yamada depicting the Rainbow Bridge. The captivating painting represented the Rainbow Bridge using a bold approach, a rich palette of colors, and a unique perspective.

The IHI Group will continue to share the appeal of artwork created by people with disabilities by supporting Artpara Fukagawa and will engage in further community-focused corporate social responsibility activities.
