Volunteer Cleanup of the Area Around the Toyosu IHI Building
Once a month, volunteers from the IHI Group use their lunch break to clean up the area around the Toyosu IHI Building in Koto-ku, Tokyo, the location of the head office. The IHI Group began this initiative in the year 2000 as one of its community contribution activities. Since around 2007, IHI volunteers have been joined by members of nearby companies and from the Toyosu 2/3 Chome Area Town Building Conference, working together to keep the Toyosu area clean.

Roughly 100 IHI Group employees took part in the April 25, 2025 volunteer cleanup. They walked through the area around the Toyosu IHI Building, picking up garbage from the roads and green spaces and separating them for disposal. The collected garbage, including glass bottles, cans, plastic bottles, and cigarettes, totaled five bags.

The IHI Group is leading the redevelopment of the Toyosu area. In addition to these cleanup activities, it also performs cleanups of the Toyosu 1-, 2-, and 3-chome areas in the morning of the first business day of each month out of its desire to keep improving the local area. There are so many employees taking part in these cleanup activities that sometimes there aren’t even enough cleaning supplies to go around.
As a member of the community, the IHI Group will continue its community contribution activities, such as its volunteer cleanups, to help make Toyosu an even better place.
