Toyosu Head Office Collects a Cumulative Total of Over One Ton of Bottle Caps
Since FY2024, the IHI Group has been recycling plastic bottle caps disposed of at its Toyosu Head Office (in Tokyo’s Koto Ward). The bottle caps collected through this initiative are picked up by a material collection company and turned into recycled material. A portion of the proceeds are donated to Japan Committee, Vaccines for the World’s Children (JCV)*1 to help supply vaccines to developing countries.
The Toyosu Head Office has dedicated collection bins for plastic bottle caps on the pantries of floors 5 to 24. There are also posters to help raise awareness of this initiative. Since the initiative was launched in April 2024, with the cooperation of many employees, the cumulative amount of collected plastic bottle caps passed the one-ton mark in July 2025. This is equivalent to vaccinations for 500 people.

This initiative not only assists with providing vaccinations, but it also contributes to the thorough sorting of waste, such as plastic bottles, and helps reduce the amount of waste that is disposed of, so it is also a part of the IHI Group’s waste reduction efforts. Activities such as these in administrative departments also heighten the environmental awareness of employees and promote voluntary and self-directed environmental action.
The IHI Group will continue to carry out initiatives that foster a greater recognition among each and every employee that they play a direct part in contributing to society and reducing environmental impacts through day-to-day activities, and it will ensure that employees can take action accordingly.
