Joining IAEG, the International Aerospace Environmental Group, to Strengthen Global Carbon Neutrality Initiatives
IHI joined the International Aerospace Environmental Group (IAEG), a non-profit organization promoting sustainability initiatives in the global aviation industry in April 2025 to strengthen its global carbon neutrality activities. The International Aerospace Environmental Group (IAEG) is a non-profit organization of global aerospace companies created to collaborate on and share innovative environmental solutions for the industry. The group works to promote the development of voluntary consensus standards and provide accessible solutions for key environmental issues..
IAEG holds semi-annual member meetings in person, as well as monthly progress reviews. IHI participated for the first time at the in-person meeting held in Montreal, Canada, from March 31 to April 4, 2025. At this meeting, active discussions took place on the latest trends in carbon neutrality and industry-wide environmental activities, enabling IHI to build networks with aircraft and aero-engine manufacturers. IHI also gathered valuable information for its carbon neutrality activities, including updates on calculation methods for Scope 3 Category 11 (greenhouse gas emissions during product use).
At the IAEG Autumn face-to-face held in Rome, Italy, from October 6 to 10, 2025, we gathered the latest information on calculation methods for Scope 3 Category 11. We also participated in working groups on ESG initiatives and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), discussing ways to enhance transparency of environmental information across the industry, strengthen supply chain collaboration, and achieve continuous improvement of its sustainability work.
Moving forward, IHI will continue to lead the aviation industry's carbon neutrality efforts by gathering the latest international information and fostering industry collaboration through IAEG. We will also persistently pursue proactive environmental initiatives and innovation to realize a sustainable aviation industry.
