United by a Traditional Festival! IHI Aioi Works Participates in the Aioi Peron Festival

IHI Aioi Works participated in the Aioi Peron Festival held in Aioi City, Hyogo Prefecture, on May 30 and 31, 2026. Organized by the Aioi Peron Festival Council, this traditional event heralds the arrival of early summer in the Banshu region and has been closely connected with the IHI Group since its origins more than 100 years ago.
Approximately 250 IHI Group employees took part in festival events, including ceremonies and portable shrine processions held to pray for safety at sea. Participation in these events provided an opportunity to experience the traditional culture that has been passed down through generations and to appreciate the importance of preserving this cultural heritage.
In addition, eight teams from the IHI Group and companies located within the IHI Aioi Works site competed in the Peron boat races, the festival’s on-the-water event. Paddling powerfully in unison to the rhythm of gongs and drums, the teams demonstrated strong teamwork throughout the races. One participating employee commented, “I felt the joy and sense of accomplishment that come from taking on a challenge together with colleagues.” The event fostered a sense of unity that transcended generations and organizational boundaries. The trust built with the local community through activities such as these is a valuable asset for the IHI Group as it continues its operations in Aioi.
As a member of the local community, the IHI Group will continue to strengthen these connections through ongoing engagement and exchange.
