From the Aviation Engine Workplace to the Future
IHI Mizuho Aero Engine Works Hosts Facility Tour for Female Junior and Senior High School Students

On August 11, 2026, the IHI Group welcomed nine female junior and senior high school students interested in pursuing studies and careers in science and engineering to its Mizuho Aero-Engine Works in Mizuho Town, Nishitama District, Tokyo, for a special facility tour. The event was organized as part of the Gender Equality Bureau Cabinet Office's career support initiative, “Riko Challenge 2026.”

During the tour, participants visited aircraft engine maintenance works and engine test facilities. They also had the opportunity to speak with IHI employees about their daily work, their reasons for choosing science and engineering fields, and their career paths. Participants shared positive feedback, including comments such as, “It was a valuable experience to see aircraft engines up close, something we would not normally have the opportunity to do,” and “The engine test facility was particularly fascinating.” Through the program, students gained a concrete understanding of manufacturing and engineering professions and were encouraged to think more deeply about their future educational and career choices.

The IHI Group recognizes the creation of an environment in which diverse talent can thrive, as well as the development of the next generation of professionals, as key initiatives that contribute to business continuity and enhanced competitiveness. Going forward, the Group will continue to collaborate with local communities and partner organizations to promote activities that create value for both society and the company.
