IHI Repeatedly Awarded Replacement Work for Boiler Main Components at Coal Fired Power Plants in Indonesia -Contributing to electrical grid stability in Indonesia

IHI Corporation (HQ : Tokyo, Japan, President & COO : Hiroshi Ide, hereafter referred to as “IHI”) is pleased to announce that PT. Indonesia Power (hereafter referred to as “IP”) has awarded a contract to IHI and PT. COGINDO DAYABERSAMA (hereafter referred to as “Cogindo”) to replace the super heater portion of the No.2 Boiler at the Pangkalan Susu Coal Fired Power Plant. This is IHI’s second order in Indonesia to replace the main components of a boiler that was originally supplied by another company. In January 2020, IHI received an order to replace the main components of the No. 8 Boiler at the 625MW Suralaya Coal Fired Power Plant.

Maintaining quality and stable operations throughout the life cycle of traditional power plants is a challenge faced by operators throughout the world. Pangkalan Susu Coal Fired Power Plant (Total aggregate power output of 400MW) is located in the northern area of Sumatera island and is one of the most important power plants in Indonesia. IP expects this replacement work will contribute to continued stable operation of Pangkalan Susu. Super heaters are major components in boilers of this type and have to operate under high pressure and high temperature conditions. In general, replacement and repair work on third party supplied boilers presents challenges from an execution perspective and requires reliable technology and skill. IHI appreciates the opportunity to perform this replacement work for IP together with our partner Cogindo. We consider this award to be further testament to the trust customers place in IHI as evidenced by our abundant track record for both new boiler deliveries and maintenance work.

IHI has received high praise for reliability throughout our extensive experience both in Japan and internationally. We are confident that our maintenance and support solutions can contribute to long term stable power plant operation. IHI, as a group, is committed to offering comprehensive support solutions to our customers. In line with that commitment, we have established a network in Southeast Asia, including Indonesia, to provide competitive maintenance and support solutions for electrical infrastructure. That network includes PT. Cilegon Fabricators an IHI group company that manufactures boiler equipment, among other products and services, in Indonesia, as well as IHI POWER SYSTEM MALAYSIA SDN BHD which specializes in the maintenance business.

IHI, and its group companies, are proactively engaged in helping to reduce environmental burdens throughout the world while realizing stable power supply by expanding life cycle maintenance and support solutions. This is made possible through our state-of-the-art technology, comprehensive know how and our network of maintenance and support service providers. With a wealth of experience in providing high-quality infrastructure, IHI continues to focus on contributing to stable operation and high availability of power plants all over the world while helping clients to maximize value and realize a sustainable global society.
