The IHI Group defines material issues as the key management issues it must prioritize to contribute to a sustainable society and achieve sustainable corporate growth.
In Project Change, formulated in 2020, the Group articulated its vision for the near future as “Create a world where nature and technology work in unity,” thereby clarifying the social issues it should address and the value it can provide. The Group then selected the IHI Group Sustainability Issues by considering what matters most in achieving decarbonization, preventing and mitigating disasters, and enhancing quality of life.
Subsequently, in “IHI Group ESG Management,” announced in November 2021, the Group identified the following as material issues requiring priority attention: addressing climate change, respecting the human rights of people connected to its businesses, enabling diverse talent to thrive as a driving force for value creation, and earning the trust of stakeholders through management grounded in integrity.
