Company History

IHI developed the first jet engine in Japan and has been a leading jet engine manufacturer in the world.
IHI has continuously provided the latest advanced technology, products and services, since IHI developed original general-purpose gas turbine in 1957.
We promise to continue making effort to provide revolutionary new technology, products and services in the field of energy sector to meet the needs of customer in the future.

1957 Developed the IGT60 - IHI original general-purpose gas turbine model.
Installed the IGT90 to Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Public Corporation(NTT)
1965 Developed the IM350 - the first Aero-Derivative gas turbine.
1967 Delivered the IM100 - the gas turbine model for the use of the main engine of a hovercraft
1971 Delivered IM100 Mobile Gas turbine Generator (known as MGG1000) as mobile power generation for emergency and temporary power supply to Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Public Corporation (NTT).
1976 Gas turbine division was established and started its operation in October.
1977 Exported and delivered IM100 Mobile Gas turbine Generator (known as MGG1000) as mobile power generation to Petróleos Mexicanos (PEMEX), a petroleum company in Mexico.
1978 Delivered IM1500 gas turbine as stand-by power generation for emergency power supply to the Tokyo Prefectural Government.
Developed the IM5000 gas turbine.
1980 Delivered 2 x IM5000 Barge Mounted Power Plant (known as BMPP) to Bangladesh.
1982 Delivered 2 x LM2500 Power Plants to Electricity Generating Authority of Papua New guinea.
1987 Delivered the first IM400 gas turbine for Combined Heat and Power (Cogeneration) system to the Osaka Plant of Sumitomo Chemical Co., Ltd.
1991 Delivered IM400 gas turbine for district heating and cooling system to the Shinjuku district cooling and heating center. (Tokyo Gas Co., Ltd.)
1993 Delivered LM2500 gas turbine for Combined Heat and Power (Cogeneration) System to Kansai International Airport Energy Center. (Kansai Electric Power Company Inc.)
Delivered the first LM1600 gas turbine.
Installed LM6000 gas turbine power plant at the gas turbine research laboratory of the Mizuho Aero-Engine Works facility of IHI.
1995 Developed the IM270, IHI original gas turbine.
Delivered LM2500 gas turbine package to Maui Electric Co. Ltd. in the Island of Maui, Hawaii.
1996 Delivered the first LM6000PA gas turbine simple cycle power plant in Australia
1997 Established Kanamachi Purification Plant Energy Service Co., Ltd. (KESCO) as the first company in Japan founded as private finance initiative (PFI).
Delivered IM270 Combined Heat and Power (Cogeneration) System to Shinosaka Paperboard Co., Ltd.
Delivered the first VHP(Variable Heat   Power) / steam injection gas turbine Combined Heat and Power (Cogeneration) System, to Toyo Seikan Co., Ltd.
1998 Delivered natural gas-fired LM6000 gas turbine combined cycle power plant in Indonesia.
1999 Delivered LM6000 gas turbine combined cycle power plant in Taiwan.
2001 Delivered the first LM6000PD gas turbine simple cycle power plant in Australia.
2003 Established Niigata Power Systems Co., Ltd., as IHI subsidiary company, in February.
Delivered 6 x IM400IHI-FLECS units to Roppongi Energy Service Co., Ltd.
2004 Delivered an IM270 IHI-FLECS (2.5 MW) unit to Kirin Beverage Company, Limited.
2007 Delivered the first LM6000PC gas turbine simple cycle power plant in Australia.
Delivered the first IM270 gas turbine power plant system with the specifications for both normal operation and emergency operation in case national disaster occurs.
2008 Delivered the first IM270 with the dual-fuel specification for both normal operation and emergency operation in case national disaster occurs.
Delivered the first LM6000 Combined Heat and Power (Cogeneration) system for the domestic (Japanese) market.
2009 Delivered the first LM2500+G4 Combined Heat and Power (Cogeneration) system.
Developed VOC recovery gas turbine power plant system.
2010 Delivered the first LM2500PJ Combined Heat and Power (Cogeneration) system.
2011 Established the Perth Service Center (Service branch office for Perth, Australia).
2012 Established IHI Power System Thailand (Service branch office for Thailand and the rest of Southeast Asia).
Delivered the first LM6000PF gas turbine combined cycle power plant in Thailand.
2013 Established the Cheyenne Service Center (Service branch office in the U.S.).
Established IHI Global Monitoring   Technical Service Center "i-MOTS"
2014 Delivered the LM2500+G4 RD Combined Heat and Power (Cogeneration) system.
